For a long time the topic on the impact of mobile phones on health has been discussed. In addition to research legislation solutions regulating this issue are introduced.
San Francisco authorities decided to make pioneer and rather controversial move. They approved a law under which the phone manufacturers will have to inform customers about SAR. SAR is an abbreviation for „Specific Absorption Rate” and means the amount of energy absorbed by tissue when using a particular model of the cell.
We wrote that the move is controversial because the relationship of mobile phones with health problems (including brain cancer) is still fresh hypothesis. Intensive research is carried out , but for now the results are not conclusive. Equipment manufacturers point out that the mere presence of SAR parameter in specification of the model will suggest that this is something important and will make the atmosphere of danger. Besides, such a legislative step can be a dangerous precedent limiting the market.
